MICHELLE WANG

Michelle is a videographer currently based in the Greater Chicago area. Her first memorable interaction with video was through consuming and producing "FMVs", or fan-made videos. These are videos where clips from a piece of media are chopped up and rearranged, oftentimes creating a new perspective that differs from the original storyline. She loved that these videos could form such a solidified message despite the fact that they were often less than a minute and included no dialogue, only background music.

Since then, she has had opportunities to interact with many different forms of video, including short films, advertisements, and live news. However, even in these new experiences, she aims to achieve the same goal of strong yet concise storytelling. She has grown a special admiration for the short form of advertisements for this very reason. Her work to date spans from creating promotions for various facilities at her alma mater (UIUC), including the Cancer Center and Research Park, as well as producing spec ads with her friends whenever she gets the chance.
